Crystal Falls Ecumenical Svc 2005

Each year the churches in the Crystal Falls community have an ecumenical service on the eve of Thanksgiving. We take turns hosting it. This year St. Mark's hosted. While it was a small turnout because of bad weather, it was a beautiful service. We used a liturgy focused on bread and baked 60 small loaves of bread, which were blessed and given to all in attendance to use for their Thanksgiving celebrations. Photos of the new lift, completed during the summer of 2005. The lift was purchased by Wright and Fillipis. The construction of the shaft, etc, was done by Nocerini Construction. The painting was done by Tom Bean. The total project was approximately $28,000. We got a UTO grant for $15,000 and a diocesan maintenance grant for $2,000. The remainder was collected through donations from St. Mark's members. Jim blessed the lift when he visited here in March 2005 but the inspection hadn't been completed yet so it was this summer before we could actually use it. It's been an adventure but quite a blessing. Considerable thanks go to our Lift Committee for researching and overseeing the work. T hey are Al Pieper, Ray Perry and Gary Coopman, along with our treasurer Warren Maki. ~Peg Padilla
